Shumarak's Creative Heart & Storyteller
Who guides us through Shumarak?
Enisa Alagić
Behind Shumarak are Redžep, Tarik, and Enisa. Our team brings together different generations, a wealth of diverse experiences, and, most importantly, a collective love of nature.
As a mother of three, my professional journey has spanned journalism, the NGO sector, and project management. I'm also a licensed tour guide, the founder of several associations, and an eager learner in digital marketing, always keen to share meaningful stories. My degree in International Relations took me far from my childhood home in Klis, Herzegovina. Yet, the memories of growing up among chestnut groves, orchards, and a large, loving family, living simply in harmony with nature, have always been my wellspring of inspiration and strength.
Returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina with my husband and children was a heartfelt decision. I wanted them to experience growing up surrounded by extended family, forests, rivers, and mountains in what I believe is the most beautiful country in the world. I'm passionate about stories that connect us, ideas that inspire action, and the beauty of living in cycles, just as nature teaches. The idea for Shumarak was born during one of our family outings, when Tarik, Uncle Redžep, and I decided to combine our knowledge and invite you to join our family adventures across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Your Hiking Expert & Trail Guide
Tarik Grabus
I'm Redžep's son and the proud father of a young boy. A geography teacher by education and a meteorological observer by profession, my childhood was defined by weekends and school breaks spent outdoors. Hiking naturally became a family passion. I often say I studied geography, but my father truly lived it.
For a time, I taught geography in elementary school and later served as the General Secretary of the Mountaineering Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. From adulthood until five years ago, I was an active member of the Sarajevo rescue station, serving as a certified rescuer, A-category guide, P1-category diver, and skier.
Today, I'm an avid outdoor enthusiast who cherishes spending free time with my family in nature. My climbing experience includes peaks like Damavand, those in the Alps and Transylvanian Alps, the Tatras, Durmitor, Šar Mountains, Pelister, and Mount Olympus, among many others.
Shumarak's Seasoned Mentor & Mountain Sage
Redžep Grabus
Our "Shumarak's Grey hair" is a true man of the mountains, a retired teacher, professional mountaineer, alpinist, mountain rescuer, and hiking & tourism guide. With over 320 alpine routes and 27 hiking traverses under his belt, he's stood atop peaks from our very own Bjelašnica to the distant Alps, Himalayas, and Tian Shan. In nearly 40 years of teaching, he organized hundreds of excursions, introducing students to Bosnia and Herzegovina's breathtaking natural beauty.
Redžep was the first to conquer all of Bosnia and Herzegovina's major rock faces, and his numerous awards are a testament to his profound love, unwavering dedication, and significant contributions to Bosnian mountaineering and mountain rescue services. His life story is more than just a biography; it's an invitation to live simply, courageously, and with a heart turned towards the heights.
Our Shumarak family is incredibly proud to have such a mentor. We will weave Redžep's wisdom, extensive experience, and invaluable knowledge into all our adventures, ensuring his legacy serves as a lasting source of inspiration and guidance for future generations, especially for his grandchildren and all children eager to explore nature.
